About two years ago us Californians could get 5lb lead ingots, sheet lead flashing, and shredded hair lead at any hardware store. Now there is some environmental issue causing all of the hardware stores to not stock lead any more. One builder I know is getting lead shot from Arizona, but he has to go there to get it himself because UPS charges a hazardous chemical fee to carry lead! It may be less expensive to substitute gold. Regards, Ed Armstrong Watsonville CA. [While the environmentalists have had some luck at banning lead shot in deference to steel in most areas, you should still be able to locate lead shot at most sporting goods stores. I know that shot is more expensive than ingots, but it is probably more readily available. Give your local full-service gun shop a call and see if they don't stock it routinely. Another rather left-handed source would be a recycling center, one that collects batteries in particular might be a good potential resource for this less-than-desirable metal. I hope this helps. ] >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> LML homepage: http://www.olsusa.com/Users/Mkaye/maillist.html
