Greetings,

I'm planning the IO-550 N engine installation in my Legacy and am not sure what size fuel line hose to use from the gascolator to the mechanical fuel pump on the engine.

Page 26-26 of the Legacy Assembly Manual shows a "-4"  (or 1/4") fitting coming out of the gascolator.  I think 1/4" hose is too small and that this is probably a mistake in the manual.  (I know, it's hard to believe, but.....)

Page 26-27 shows a "-8" (or 1/2") line connecting the gascolator to the fuel pump.  That is inconsistent with the previous page, but it makes more sense.

The problem is that the input port on my engine is 1/4" female pipe thread with a "-6" (or 3/8") male flare fitting attached to it.  Obviously, a "-8" hose won't easily connect to a "-6" fitting.

I'm leaning (no pun intended) towards using a "-6" hose from the gascolator to the mechanical fuel pump.  It will fit the existing fitting on the fuel pump and a "-6-6" fitting fits the 1/2" female pipe thread outlet on the gascolator.

I'm curious to know what other Legacy builders have done.

Thanks,
Dennis Johnson
