Gee Scotty, I thought you were planning on racing - 278mph (240 KIAS) might
not be fast enough. Of course, you could give it a try in the Air Venture
Cup Race and see if you can hold it together at any speed for 400 miles.
Angier was reading upside down and was disoriented, although we know Speed
Demon has secrets imbedded in his airplane which probably compensate. Some
of us know that the tab was a recent addition - probably hot glued on.

Yes, I do plan on racing, and doing it below redline of the airplane. But
you miss the point. I'm not going over redline and performing aerobatics. HUGE
difference. My goal is to get my airplane to do a 250 mph lap. Maybe I can,
maybe I can't... There is a huge gaggle of sport class racers at 250 mph. So
yeah, it *is* fast enough - especially for that airframe at max power in that
environment.
If you are saying that speed was erroneous, then I'll go back into my cave
and pipe down. But c'mon... We have enough accidents with folks making smaller
mistakes and doing things less dumb than that. If the quote was true, it kinda
pisses me off because I don't want to lose any more Lancair pilots or
Lancairs... On a purely selfish note, we all don't need stupidity driving up
insurance costs.
You're an asset here, and I enjoy your posts and information. Maybe I
misconstrued something...
Rant over.
