I did
some drilling/taping today. Where/how did you drill for screws. Any
pictures?
I have
attached a picture. Maybe I did this the hard way....
Lancair indicated that they route the wires through the
slot created by the stick and the bushing and the grip. This avoids
cutting into the stick and eliminates a few steps which is alway a good
thing. The wires that came with my stick are 20/22 and would not fit in
the slot (I think Lancair wires there own grips with smaller wire, so it works
for them without grinding).
So I
ground out the bushing a little and now the stick slides in an pushes the wires
out of the way inside the grip.
But
the grip doesn't not 'grip' the stick (never did, even before the
grinding). It is easily rotated. I have drilled/tapped 3 holes for
set screws (see attached picture, lower left for one of the holes) in the lower
section of the bushing (not into the stick). I suspect that when I insert
the set screws, it will just open up the bushing due to the
slot.
Soo..... the plan is to use the center hole of the 3
drilled holes to hold the grip in place for final clocking and then drill
through the stick using the remaining 2 holes. Finally, using a through
bolt and nut to fix it all in place.
Way
too much work. Hopefully, someone has a better, quicker
idea.

Steve,
Have you drilled and tapped holes in your stick for the
screws to lock into? I did that with my stick grip; works good - lasts long
time. Do one at a time so they all line up perfectly.
