Earl,
Mine came with a 'bushing' (see enclosed picture), but I guess the bushing
is a little shy of material and doesn't clamp down on the stick tube enough.
I'll try your idea.

I have inserted the stick into the grip and tightened the screws but the
grip just spins. Anyone have a solution to this problem?
