<< Lancair Builders' Mail List >>
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<--->>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I don't know if any of you noticed, but I recently posted a couple messages
about my panel and engine for my Lancair 360. The engine is done, the panel
is done, and the plane is primed and "almost ready to go". Other than some
firewall forward plumbing and interior work, I should only be a few weeks
from flying (I am always optimistic...).
However, a MAJOR holdup is the fact that I don't have a cowl. I placed an
order for the cowl with Lancair back on March 31. I still don't have
anything but excuses... not in the last two shipments, don't know what's
happening... Vern is nice and all, but the fact remains that it has been
almost 4 months, and it is starting to look like that will be the delay for
a first flight.
Or can you fly one of these things without a cowl? Is it really
necessary?!? Or is it just cosmetic? Those cabbies in NYC drive with the
hood open on their cars, this is about the same thing, so I should be okay,
right?
Does anyone out there have a long 320/360 cowl sitting in the garage,
waiting to be installed? Want to monetize the cowl? Or swap my future
delivery for yours? Houston, TX area would be a bonus...
TIA,
Matt
