Others on this site will have a better idea on your chances of success than me. However, I can assure you General Motors would replace the engine if you made a big stink. Secondly, the person who OK'ed the ferry flight with visible hunks of lifter in the oil filter was 3 french fries short of a happy meal. Spald lifters do not heal themselves and nothing positive could come from flying that engine. I'm very happy it all ended successfully. I am 100% percent certain that all bearings at a very minimum will need to be replaced. I would make a big stink for a new engine.
