Unless I have some misunderstanding about what you are describing, they are
all like that. As per the construction manual (ES - Chapter 10), the Jeffco
9700 tank sealer is applied before the wing is closed. The Jeffco 9700
Sealer should be brushed on so that there is a very slight overlap of sealer
and Hysol to insure that all the surfaces are covered by Jeffco 9700 except
for Hysol squeeze bead. I think I remember the manual calling for something
like a 1/4" or so overlap. The Hysol squeeze bead that you should have along
the edge of the bond joints will not be covered with Jeffco 9700 unless you
go beyond what is called for in the construction manual, and access
provisions are made, to apply Jeffco 9700 over the Hysol bead. There should
be very little, if anything to be gained by doing that. I would swear I
remember reading somewhere that Hysol 9339 is fuel resistant, but I can't
remember now exactly where I saw that. As long as you do have the access, it
would not hurt to inspect the bond joints and make sure everything is sealed
well. If you see anything that looks like it might be questionable, you
might want to address that.
