This thing is the cat's meow. I flew behind King Silver Crow for 20 years. Kiss King goodbye. Even before we installed it, my plan was for dual 430's and a Sandel HSI in my IV, based on the demo I saw last year at OSH. No DME, no ADF. Still the plan. Recent experience just reinforced my conclusions. The 530 is still in the works, will appear next year I am told. I find the 430 screen to be quite adequate (even with my bifocals) and used it to do an ILS followed by a special VFR to a nearby airport in the muck. It was a joy to behold. If we wil be able toget the big screen for an extra gfrand or so, maybe it wil be worth it. More money than that, not worth it, in my opinion, unless there are other features. I see no need for other big screen displays, maps, etc. in the cockpit after flying the 430. After installing the 430, I consider those to be a lot of money for marginal benefit. I am going to OSH next week (those that are going; I will be leading the Don Goetz roast Friday Night at the LNN get together) and plan to investigate the avionics picture in some depth as I am some months away from final decisions. I am going to also spend a lot of time with Jim Rahm to find out the latest details of his engine project. (I made a deposit to secure price and delivery, but still need more proof.) I will provide a "trip report" upon my return. Fred Moreno >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> LML homepage: http://www.olsusa.com/Users/Mkaye/maillist.html
