I have

Colyn,
Hmmmmm, I couldn't find the data to support that. I do know of
a 235/320 that had the nose gear collapse on landing and had an engine
compartment fire - but it was upright so the pilot got out and before helpers
put out the fire, he went back for baggage or Serengetti sunglasses or something
like that. The cowl was a complete loss and the right side, wing root and
canopy suffered damage - it didn't quite get to the header tank.
Jeff,
Not too many people would be able to get out of a forward hinged canopy
Lancair resting inverted even if no head injuries occurred.
Brent,

altogether. I don't think it is ever a good idea to have large quantities of
flammable or hot fluids in the passenger compartment.

I don't think the burn history of header equipped Lancairs is any worse
than those without.

PS - Maybe
Lee Metcalf has the accident data with burn
info?
