Dan, FWIW,

I used the ACS oil separator with a small polyethylene bottle attached to
the return outlet. I dump it at each oil change. On my engine, there's
usually about 1 inch of gunk in the bottle - which I wouldn't dream of
returning to my engine . If I remember, the bottle originally contained
Roll-Aids (or some such) and after several hundred hours, shows no signs of
deterioration from the witch's brew it collects.
