Marv, once again you're going above and beyond.

I don't have any strong feelings regarding this but my interest was piqued
as I thought the whole concept was pretty forward thinking and would help
the EAA and aviation in general move into the 21st century. This I thought
was one of the inherent albeit unspoken tenets of homebuilding airplanes at
large. So from that aspect alone I would expect there to be an enthusiastic
encouragement on behalf of the EAA, in fact I was further encouraged by
Scott Krueger's willingness to take this further. I certainly understand too
that this is an entirely different kind of chapter and there are things that
will be different and some things similar to the traditional chapter.

Regarding the social aspect, there is little reason why we couldn't nominate
a youngster for an aviation related scholarship, perhaps the selection
process could be around some task that is computer/aviation related. An
essay is one albeit hackneyed process.

Chapters are airplane type agnostic, however I live in the
Portland/Hillsboro area and chapter 103 is pretty well represented by RX (or
is RV?) builders :-)

I believe that the mailing list archives are of significant value to a broad
spectrum of plane builders, hydraulics are not really type specific,
building techniques for the Lancair ports pretty well over to the Express
and Europa, etc. The EAA could help in disseminating this information by
providing links, advertising, search capability, etc on their web site,
which is devoid of any real information besides marketing hype and articles
from back issues of Sportplane.

I really think this is great opportunity for the EAA to guide experimental
aviation into the future, it's really a continuation of what they've done
such an excellent job of in the past.

I'll think more on this and bore you all with more babbling.

Pat
