I haven't built mine yet -- I just built the pushrod early this week -- but I think any design is acceptable if you can remove the pushrod if needed.  I was planning on making only the top of the tunnel removable, I guess, in case I lost anything in the channel and wanted to get it out (like half a quart of hydraulic fluid, perhaps?)

Just my two cents.  I'm anxious for good ideas here, too.
