22 years makes an era in the world of homebuilts. This has been the longest running all-out race for us little guys. Now we have the sport class at Reno, but the price of racing there is high and going up every year. Once these races are canceled, they never come back...re: Copperstate Dash, and the Golden West races. All we are left with are the cross country races, which are great fun, but just not the same as the balls-to-the wall 100 mile race.
It is a shame too. Many of the advances in efficiency we all use now started as racer's tricks for speed (cooling plenums, EI, pressure recovery wheelpants, on and on).

22 Years Mishap Free. Doesn't it just rot! And to think, this year Dick Keyt was doing repairs and might not have made it in time. Mark and I could've had a respectable race. Aaaaarrrrgh!

I Don't think so. We'll just have to start hosting more local
races as I believe the Canard guys do. I will however send a
letter to Sun & Fun noting the reason for my absence.
