But he needed to state that Turbocharging also has a LOT of issues. Any time you are boosting an engine you need to understand as much as possible. I have hundreds of hours on my Supercharged engine with no issues. George's company makes Turbocharged kits for Bonanzas and I make Supercharged systems for the same version of the IO 550. Enough said. No mater what engine you are flying with if you do not pay close attention to your temps and trends you are asking for problems. As far as requiring 70 HP to drive the supercharger that is not the case. A Supercharger and a Turbocharger use about the same HP from the engine to maintain Sea level HP to about 17,000 ft.
