I have "fine wire" plugs - made with an exotic metal that does not participate in the fire. Thus, they do not erode and, some say, more easily allow the spark to bridge the gap resulting is less misfires. Champion probably has a web site with examples of plugs that have reached the end of adjustment - the center electrode is a pronounced oval rather than round.
