The sensor tube you built sounds a lot like the Vision Micro tube. Like you, I built in the extended range wing fuel (fuel to the tips). I installed the Vision Micro system with the tube running from the inboard bottom of the tank (BL50 rib) diagonally to the top of the tank at the dry bay rib. The entire probe is easily removable, if necessary. I get very accurate fuel readings even though the probe doesn't extend beyond the dry bay. I find that due to the dihedral of the wing, as soon as about a gallon and a half of fuel is burned (starting from completely full) the level starts to drop at the end of the probe. I find this completely acceptable considering the alternative of sending the tube through the dry bay, getting it properly sealed, avoiding interferrence with the aileron mechanism and making the probe non removable. Is the ablilty ro read that fullest gallon worth all the extra trouble? Patrick, I really am going to send you those photos, I've been out on a trip for 3 days. I'll try to get 'em off to you today.
