And, from the other direction, you are making the assumption that Darryl is
using the absolute optimal "approach" to every drag reduction issue involving
his airplane and engine, and that he has not overlooked one or more issues
that might make the airplane even faster - - not to speak of being easier to
maintain and do engine changes on in the field the night before the Reno race.
I don't think you really mean to suggest that it is perfect and has fully
optimized the speed/drag issue. But that is what you are in fact saying, if
one follows your line of reasoning.
In my experience in dealing with Darryl I think he would be the first to tell
you the contrary.
Again... anecdotal reports of success with anything are interesting - - but
they become much more interesting if one can couple them with an hypothesis
that is consistent with the known science... rather than coupling the
anecdotal report with an hypothesis that is contrary to the well understood
science.
