Dan,
I just recently switched waxes - from Johnsons floor wax to Meguiar's. The Meguiar's caused the PVA to bead when I wiped it on.  I therefore
switched to spraying with really good results.  Gelcoated parts come out
of the mold with an emaculate surface finish.  I haven't seen the orange
peel you mention.  I use a small, cheap spray gun with 90-100 psi to
apply the PVA.  Chris Zavatson
