Bad manufacture and or rebuild is always a possibility. Compare serial numbers and rebuilder and date. I will check the one I changed and post the number.

Larry,
Helped a friend troubleshoot a fuel problem with his IO 360 in an RV-8. New pump on a rebuilt engine. It had supposedly been test run before shipping. One of the internal check valves was deformed when pressed into the pump body when the pump was manufactured. No way it could work properly. Do you suppose there's a batch of bad ones out there?

This just in. We tore down the second mechanical pump and, lo and behold, one of the two internal check valves doesn't check. It allows fuel to drizzle right back through it ....
