Micah,

The technique I used around the canopy was to first tape off the paint line with good striping tape (available at auto body supply stores). I taped off about 3/8" from where the carbon bonded to the plexi. Next step is to rough up the 3/8 gap between the carbon edge and the tape with #80 paper. Careful not to sand into the tape. I then applied a mixture of micro to fill the transition with some flox mixed in. A ratio of 2 parts micro to one part flox works well and will help it from chipping. Incidentally, I use this same mixture doing the filler on my engine cowls.

From here on it's a matter of sanding to get it smooth. Use primer to finish the last MINOR filling and sanding. This has worked well for me and I've found it to be very durable. Nothing has chipped after a year and my painter Steve Green said it would be fine.
