That might not be surprizing.  I just was writing about contaminated epoxy from cheap hardware store acetone and yet when I talked to a technical guy at Jeffco, he said they use Jasco brand hardware store variety 'tone for their test samples!  I much prefer technical grade acetone.  And that is only to get it clean.  If it were perfectly clean and dust free, it wouldn't be required to wipe down since the acetone imparts nothing to the surface.
