I was trying to reserve an N number, but ended up getting registered, and I was still at Builders Assistance. The only complication I ran into was the Riverside County Tax Assessor wanted property tax, but a few letters and they were convinced that it's not an airplane until I get an airworthiness certificate, and they just have to wait. The very minor advantage, other than already having a number, is you don't have to pay the $10 annual fee to keep an N number reserved. Strangely, there is no fee to be registered.
