Then you just need to pull together the necessary paperwork. You need to get a bill of sale from Lancair. Mine was easy, just a phone call to Heidie and it showed up a few days later. I think the FAA took around 3 weeks to turn around my registration. You can have the registration complete way before you are ready to fly. I think most people wait until the last minute to keep below the radar for sales tax. But you can have a registered aircraft that's still in pieces.
