I can’t help wondering if this isn’t another instance of the problem I discussed in my note, “Oildyne -- burrs in pump note” on 5/18/04. Although the system seemed OK for many hours, it had grown flakey and took longer and longer to raise the wheels, until it would give a final “burp” and finish the job. It would appear that although the spool valve is installed backwards, it still will work “almost” correctly. Reversing it fixed my problem. The reversed spool problem had been discussed previously, I just thought I didn’t have that problem, because at the time, I could pass the gear Up-Down test (Mike’s “95% up and then quick down” test.)
