For all of you adventuresome  experimental airplane/engine type pilots:

For some very peculiar reasons,  it would be very helpful if somebody with a  IV-P could collect a very specific piece of data for me.

I need somebody that has a JPI or another system that can record data,  and really,  it needs to be at the JPI  2 second rate, or better.

I need the full boat data set,  FFlow, MP, RPM,  TIT, eetc.

Scenario:

Full power and full RICH at  21 to 23000 feet.

I need you to be in the climb and then do a hard push over for at least 5 seconds,  during which you clearly go to at least -0.5 G.

The idea is to get the oil in the sump to unport the oil pump.

This should cause the oil pressure to momentarily drop and that should cause the wastegate to spring load to the OPEN position and the turbo ramp down.

The question is,  will the engine a) stop, and  b), if it does stop, will it restart without any pilot action, after the oil pressure resumes,  or will the engine be so rich that it will not restart until the pilot pulls the mixture to idle and then puts the mixture back in - - smoothly.

Then I need you to repeat this test,  twice more.

Once at normal cruise power setting.

And another time at with the throttle set to idle when you do the push over.

Then it would be really nice if you could send me the data file download  !!!

A short note as to your results would be helpful,  and maybe of some interest to the members of the list.

I will then evaluate this and give a report of the findings and why they are significant, or otherwise.

If you have questions,  I will be glad to answer them.

Thanks,   George

PS.  You will want to be on O2,  as the cabin will likely depressurize.  You might even want to depressurize the cabin in advance of the maneuver,  just so that it will not be distracting.
