 Airport elevation 862'. So his alt was 7138 * 7 / 6072 = 8nm range. Or 26nm
 at coarse pitch. Had he had that extra 862' things may have been different.
 If he reacted to the emergency much the same as I, he may not have
 established the perfect glide speed. Add some turns, trying to figure out
 what is wrong, doing something about it, talking to center or approach, gear
 down, confusion, etc. Damn! jim
