wow looks great Don!  was it really cheaper than
a factory new engine? amazing deal...

> balanced to within a gram and
hmm, wonder if that nick I filed off the prop would
effect this?

> was dynoed at 370hp@ 2800 RPM
reminds me of a phone call yesterday:

them: My Legacy only goes 230KTAS at 8,000' 25" @ 2,500rpm
me: that sounds right.. that's what mine does too.
them: what? I through you did 262KTS GS at LAL?
me: I did, but that was 31.5" @ 2,775RPM, or about 350HP
rather than 240HP.. 100HP for 30KTS still isn't bad.
them: oh, how can you get away with more than 2,700RPM?
me: what's your gross weight?
them: 2500lbs
me: how did you get away with more than lancair's 2300lbs?
them: well, its more for the FAA/NTSB so I can when I
need to.. don't want their report to say "exceeded mfg's
gross weight" to give the insurance co something to
hang on... I just watch the breaks and turbulence
G forces...
me: yea, I did the same... going fast will get
an amazing about of weight off the ground... so if you
penciled the gross weight why not put a new number on
the side of the engine?
them: you can do that?
me: as the mfg you can do alot of stupid things, just
rember that mooney sells our exact same engine limited
to 2500RPM or 240HP, and cont has said if we run more
than 240HP continuous we won't make TBO... but it sure
is fun to run 350HP! and its sooooo easy to do...
them: don't you need to increase your fuel flow with
that kinda HP?
me: yup, increase the fuel pressure.
them: how do you do that?
me: turn the high speed fuel return line blockoff
on the side of the engine mounted fuel pump..
them: ok... but that still doesn't explain how the
factory claims the legacy prototype does
240kts @ 8k 25" 2500rpm..
me: mine can't do that.. and I can only speak for mine.
