Ian:
When I had my prop strike (no sudden stoppage) the prop
shop inspected the hub and pronounced it good to go. But, they could not
find any existing replacement blades. Hartzell wanted more money to make
two new blades than a whole new prop listed for in the Lancair catalog, so
I opted for a new prop, which the insurance company (AIG) paid for. The
insurance company took salvage on the prop hub, and for all I know, it is flying
on someone else's plane now!

I am having difficulty with the prop shops up here
in Canada, who are telling me that in the event of a prop strikeyou cannot
just replace the blades but must also replace the hub. This is a new
prop!
Can anyone shed some personal light on this and
tell me what you did when the prop was damaged for whatever reason? Did
you get replacement blades? Did you have to replace the hub?
Does anyone have any bright ideas as to a
substitute prop which might cost less?
Regards
Ian Crowe
