 G'day guys,

On attempted start this morning the motor would not engage

The  problem was with the starter ring gear not engaging due to being stuck on “splinds" The "bendix" was replaced with a new one only 6 months ago.

Has anyone encoun tered this and is there a fix to prevent recurrence? It has been suggested to use a different starter motor--light weight--high speed? Does this sound reasonable?
