Alas, bonding to aluminum is actaully well documented. The only way to get good structural bonds that the FAA will buy off on anyway, is with an anodized surface etch such as PAA or CAA. The test method is pretty straight forward. It's a simple wedge test with heat so if you wanted to get data from a 12 year old, yes, they would be able to do the test. Just be sure they have an accurate gram scale for mixing since the stochiometric ratio is critical, (Yes I do have a friend that wanted to make the epoxy harden faster so he added more hardener...and now he doesn't mix MY epoxy!)
And for structural bonds, use a structural bond adhesive, not the Jeffco or West System stuff. They are OK in their own right but there are a LOT of adhesives that have much better performance.
