If it was under 3 minutes, they should not have even given you a choice to take off. Secondly, this "Grey hound bus with wings" sounds like a Shorts airplane of some sort. Some charter companies use Shorts 330's and 360's. One of my previous airlines had some 360's.(I'm an ex airline pilot form Canadian/Air Canada) These "Short boxes" as we called them utilize a lifting body design. Therefore the wake turbulence behind them is similar to a 757. They are not a "heavy" but give off similar turbulence patterns. From previous experience coming in behind these things on final and getting rocked, we all learned to keep our distance from these "Short boxes". Look forward to seeing you in the skies again soon.
