I the factory layout to be rather good. You will have to adjust a little based on what you are doing in the engine compartment. I mounted my batteries on the firewall so I had to be careful to make sure that everything cleared. The cable locations were excellent and worked perfectly. The cables that the factory supplied were correct. The caveat is: Take your time and think through what it is that you want to accomplish, then start cutting holes.
