In the never-ending pursuit of Truth, Justice and the American Way,.....and
last but not least, less expensive aircraft parts,
you might be interested to know of a company called Positech International in
Wheeling, West Virginia.

I just got their Aviation Oil Cooler catalog and they make over 100 different
oil coolers, cross referencing OEM part numbers for MODINE, HARRISON, LORI,
NIAGRA, STEWART WARNER, CONTINENTAL and PIPER to Positech part numbers.
Specifically concerning Stewart Warner part numbers 8406, 10568, 10578 and
8432, the Positech equivalents are made to order with a three day lead time
for $180.00. For the SW equivalents of 10599, 10610A, 10641, 10631, and 10611,
the Positech price is $207.00.
They seem to have a relationship with quite a number of experimental aircraft
kit makers.
I was particularly interested in their part number PC#4219 which they say is
the equivalent of SW #10611.(but has a higher BTU transfer rate than the SW cooler)
It measures 5.77"H x 6.58"W x 3.62"D (3/8-18npt ports) and is recommended for
IO360 to IO540 engines.
I was also intrigued by their comment that this cooler might provide TOO much
cooling capacity for an IO360 in my Lancair and that they recommend that it be
used in conjunction with a thermostatically controled valve to maintain 180deg
oil temperature minimum.
They say each cooler undergoes rigorous testing and comes with a 2yr/2000hr
warranty. They say that only one cooler out of 3000 has been returned for
repair of a bracket, damaged during installation.
HAVE ANY OF YOU HAD ANY EXPERIENCE WITH THESE FOLKS?
I think I'll give them a try.
