Larry Henney -- I don't know why the text was missing from the quotation marks.  Some e-mail glitch, I suppose.

Concerning gear down maximum duration, the question concerned how long one could fly *without overheating* in a 320/360 with the gear down.  I have received one answer off-list which suggested that the duration was unlimited.  I also have been asked "why do you care?"  I must admit, I wouldn't spend a lot of time troubleshooting the gear to make it come up -- after all, if it's so hard to pull it up, why do I think it will come down again -- and this is what jackstands are for.  Troubleshoot it on the gorund.  However, I have 500 hours in fixed-gear airplanes and as long as the engine isn't overheating I see no problem in returning to home base with the gear down -- even if it's 400 miles away.

Concerning elevator hinges lining up, I'm not sure why all you guys are having problems.  I did what the manual said -- pulled a string tight with a tongue depressor -- and the hinges line up fine and there is no binding at all.  Maybe it was beginner's luck but it was one of the first things I did on the plane and it worked just fine.  I'm not entirely sure how one can mess up something this simple unless the parts weren't straight to begin with (which is always a possibility.  I have the graphite Mk 2 fast build tail.)  Good luck with your fixes -- you can't really be too picky about having an airplane straight and true.
