        The vast majority of fasteners use a plain flat washer against the     non-rotating component and a lock washer against the rotating     fastener.  There are however exceptions to this with plain washer only     installations and fasteners with no washer of any kind.  The Lycoming     parts manual spells out what combination is used for every fastener on     the engine.
