Hi Everyone!

We are planning on our "First Sacred Engine Start" party this weekend.  The engine will start for
the very first time.   I bought a FWF package off another Lancair in Arizona.  The engine only has
300 hours on it and was never in a wreck or damaged. I had it checked.  You can imagine after all
the work how excited we all are to hear real airplane noise!!

I decided a week before start that I better go through last minute double double checks on wiring,
leaks, etc. etc.  I first thought to test to starter to see if it would spin the prop.  I tied the
tail to my car and blocked all the wheels eventhough I didn't have any fuel in the lines "just in
case".  I put on my goggles, blew the driveway with a leaf blower to get rid of all little
pebbles, and yelled, "CLEAR"!!!  I turned the key and my starter made a noise but no prop spin.  I
looked and the gear came out and hooked up with the prop gear but no power.  I immediately emailed
Sky-Tec and got an lightning-fast response within an hour from this guy named Rich Chiappe.  He
gave me a bunch of pointers and recommendations.  I did all of them and found out that the starter
was over ten years old and had just finally failed after a decade of no documented problems. I fedex'd the starter overnight to Rich and he had it fixed within a few hours and was very
reasonable on the repair cost.  He told me the starter was a good one and just needed to be
rebuilt.  By lunch time, he had the starter on its way back to me with a tracking code from UPS
and it will arrive on Tuesday, plenty of time before Saturday.  So, for any of you deciding on
what company to get your starter from, consider Sky-Tec.  No, I don't work for them, but with
service like Rich's I will not ever buy a starter from anyone else, ever. And I'm not even the
original owner.  Sky-Tec is awesome.  And to me, Rich and the service he gave is their best asset.
When buying so many airplane parts from so many companies, it's nice to know Sky-Tec is setting
the standard for others to follow.

Here's his email for any of you who have starter problems.  Prevent/Solve your problems - switch
to Sky-Tec! You can't go wrong.

Matt Reeves- Rochester, NY  99.9% there and it was a STANDARD 320 MKII kit! No fast build here. Real men build slow builds and
hair on their chests - I have two and I'm proud of them!!!
