The consensus seems to be that (like most planes), defroster performance is inadequate on the ground. Additionally, placing the vent holes in the stiffener directs the air aft rather than up onto the plexi. Bob Fair's plane moved the vent holes down from the stiffener to just below the canopy joggle. This eliminates the moving parts and connections, but the holes are still facing aft rather than up. It seems that the best choice would be vents in the glare shield that direct the air straight up, assisted by electric fans. Some of the LNC2 guys have mentioned this sort of arrangement.
