I would estimate that it would cost around $50,000 to "officially" prove who was responsible for reversing or specifying incorrectly, the valves position.
To reverse the valve costs less than $0.10 if you are the builder and if you have the great pictures on how the valve should be positioned. If you don,t have these pictures, let me know and I will send them to you.
With regard to the spool valve, if it is installed in reverse, is this
immediately obvious in terms of gear operation?
It is not obvious at all. I believe that at least 1/2 of the flying Lancairs that are using the new pumps, have the spool valves in backwards. Most of the time everything works just fine.
