They can mate with several external pipe threads but not ANPT used on AN fittings. An adapter and O ring is available that mates with the NPSF thread and provides a tapered internal thread for use with standard AN fittings. I got my adapters from Sacramento Sky Ranch. I think it is a Lycoming part. I described the installation to the folks at Sacramento Sky Ranch and they knew what part was needed. Chris Zavatson N91CZ
