I disconnected the autopilot as soon as I saw my wife fighting the controls 6 mile out, but forces remained the same. Then I looked at the aileron trim tab and watched for any movement while actuating the trim switch. To my surprise the reliable aileron trim tab was not moving neither up or down. My wife wanted to turned around to a wider runway but I thought that between us we were going to be able to keep the plane level on landing. We did and on the ground, while cooling the turbos, the damm trim tab was working fine moving freely up and down. This is when the tower called me and ask me to talk to them on the phonre. We did not reported ourself a mile out and landed without clearance. Great way to end the weekend. All I can say is that we were trying our altitude pre-select for the first time and playing with it. I sent anb e-0mail to the panel builder asking him if the aileron trim tab was independent or is connected to the autopilot. Or was it the autopilot that screw us somehow. 9070r
