I don't think they cause any heating problem because I don't seem to have a heating problem. The lights are made by PIAA and I get mine at a website for Next Collection. As for the longevity, it took a bit ( and a few bulbs) to get the mounting right. Since that time I believe the last set of bulbs have about 200 hours on them. I'm happy.
