Looking for a bit of advise for the older and more experienced, as well
as those on the cutting edge of technology.

I'm in the market for a backup battery powered handheld GPS for current
use in my C182RG (backup of dual Garmin 430's) and for later use in my
SFS/UPS equipped Legacy when it is completed.  I have considered the
simple Garmin 295.  I also like the idea of a PDA (IPAQ) equipped with
the AnyWhere Map software, or better yet, the AnyWhere WX software with
NEXRAD images (www.anywheremap.com ).  The last choice I have considered
is the Echo (http://www.echoflight.com )system.  The echo is about 6k,
quite expensive.  The Anywhere WX/IPAQ is gonna be about 3750, Anywhere
MAP/IPAQ is about 1400, and Garman 295 is about 1500.

Any suggestions or experiences with any of this, namely the Echo and
AnywhereMap?
