A while back someone asked for advise about air compressors
for their shop.  I had responded with my regret on the purchase
of a Sears "oil less/belt less" compressor.  It was extremely noisy.

Well, it died this week (only 3 years old) and I would like to know if anyone has found a "quiet" air compressor in the 5-10 hp range.  It seems that some of the old "slow belt driven" type compressors were fairly quiet.  I need to replace this one in my workshop right away.

I would like to fix or convert the present "dead" one for use in my hangar at a later date, so if any one has advise on that option I would appreciate it also.
