Given the limited information provided I must assume that your are implementing an electric supercharger. Not a bad idea actually. I know of several companies that manufacture high speed polyphase brushless permanent magnet DC motors. Couple one of these to a centrifugal compressor (half a turbocharger) add a high frequency drive and a mas macho alternator, stir and viola! Mr. Manifold pressure is taking steroids. When we were competing at Battlebots last November, Hamid and I were talking to the owner of Astroflight about this very application and putting a system in Hamid's Mooney. The good news is that you can get more shaft horsepower with a supercharger for a given manifold pressure because you don't have the back pressure of a turbo supercharger. The bad news is that the horsepower to drive the compressor has to come from somewhere and that somewhere is the crankshaft via the alternator. So, wadayasay Rick? Did I spoil the surprise?
