Dan,
  I had my panel powder coated with a very light textured color made by
Morton and then had the lettering silk screened on and it cameout awesome.
  The drawback I see with engraving is that if something changes or you
need to add anything to your panel, you have a problem, whereas the silk
screening can be added (as I just had to do after adding a circuit breaker)
or deleted and changed without affecting the underlying powder coat.
