Yep. Actually it is more than that but I wouldn't have those funds if I handed them to the insurance company. I do not keep them in a separate account labeled "Money I didn't waste on insurance" because tracking them with a spread sheet is just as effective and a lot less hassle than yet another account. < Get real. The ONLY things that I am willing to get hurt for are my wife and my children. The plane is just a thing, a thing I built. I can build another, IF I am able. I once met a heavily bandaged Hog Pilot in a bar. I inquired as to his circumstance. His fate involved a sharp corner and loose gravel. "Why didn't you just get off the bike?" I queried. "My body heals, my Harley doesn't!" he replied with a tone of grim determination. "Right on" I muttered as I slowly backed away and wondered why there were still people like this in the gene pool. A carrier pilot had to eject when the catapult malfunctioned and failed to fully accelerate his plane to flying speed. He was later asked at what point did he decide to eject, "About three years ago." was his reply. Decide now to save your ass so that when the time comes, making that decision is one less thing you have to do. Compliments of the season.
