He told me that indeed, SFS, since being bought out by Chelton, has focused its attention on an autopilot that its "mother company" produces, which is a much older and much more inferior autopilot to the TruTrak. Sierra, as a company, will no longer "endorse" the TruTrak autopilot, if you will. However, our good friends at Lancair Avionics, who now know just about everything there is to know about these units, say that there is no worry. The TruTrak autopilots will always be able to interface with the Sierra and are fully capable - they are flying with them up at Lancair now and say they work perfectly, green boxes and all. Also, they aren't breaching any warranties or anything by doing this - it's just a wiring thing. And Sierra certainly isn't going to change their hardware so it will only support their autopilot - besides, Lancair Avionics is their #1 distributor! No worries (in case there were any), my fellow builders. Keep sanding!
