SNIP > Dan Schaefer This, I think, is a bad idea. The crankcase "breaths" air in and out with every warm-up / cool-down cycle. It inhales moisture with each cycle. The preheater never really gets it hot enough to steam out the condensation so it accumulates inside the engine. On the other hand, if you leave the preheater plugged in all the time, the engine temperature remains more constant and minimizes moisture accumulation in the crankcase. Covering the cowl with a blanket will help insulate the engine and minimize temperature cycles with respect to daily ambient changes as well.
