If you install one of the permanently attached electrical heaters, why not
just plug it in via a plug-in timer (available from any Home Depot or R.S.)
and set it to be on from, say 4:00 AM to Whatever PM? Do some research to
determine how long the thing needs to be on to keep your engine warm.
Probably only needs to be on for a few hours a day to keep the jugs and oil
at a reasonable temperature. Most timers are available with several trippers
so one could set things up to heat the engine two or even three times a day
if you need it.
Whatever, if you don't pre-heat per the factory recommendations, you're
skimming off a significant number of hours from the rated TBO of the engine.
Why take the chance when there are so many ways to solve what is really, a
manageable problem?
